Venus Restaurant St Pauls Bay Malta Testimonial
First time in this restaurant by mistake and for sure not the last, recommand it. Excellent food and service. Very friendly staff and feel yourself welcome… Lucianne
This restaurant is Top what a pleasure. This was our first time for me and my girlfriend. I never wrote reviews before. They have to be very good or excellent to comment. I’m a person that I’m coming from a catering family and I can say that I am a good food critic. The place, staff and management have managed to excel. That’s a surprise for customers expectations. The meet and greet was spot on. The food was exquisitely presented and of course cooked to perfection.
We took beef cheek as a starter and for mains we had the lamb chops and Argentinian rib eye and a bottle of Moscato D’Asti. For dessert, we had the strawberry cheesecake and chocolate brownie . Ambience in the restaurant is suitable best for romantic evening . I suggest if you are looking for a grt night out with your partner book a table. the personal service was present to each and every table. The prices are very reasonable and worth every euro. Well done to all at Venus for making our visit so special and please stay as you are.
Excellent dinner date! Cosy and calm ambience, very attentive staff and fish cooked to perfection. We ordered the sea bass Al sale from the daily fresh fish selection. Highly recommended!
An excellent restaurant!
The service is truly impeccable.. varied menu and delicious complimentary starter of humus, olives and warm fresh Maltese bread. Good choice of wine. I went with my son.. the atmosphere is very relaxing. We loved the music.. it was perfect! We were also offered a complimentary drink after dinner. Looking forward to eating there again!
The food was heavenly, the service is first class and the staff are welcoming. The fish was fresh and wild catch of the day and cooked with expertise that can only be found here or at one’s own kitchen back home. The restaurant is clean and very aware of covid 19 protocol such as salt and pepper is not allowed to be touched appart from the staff.
The best in town
As always, this place offered an amazing night to us. Food was amazing and service was great. A surely must if you are in Gozo
Went here on a spur of the moment decision, and what a great decision! It was delicious. Service super, food delicious and portions, as ever with Gozo, huge! Steak was just superb (although I did have to take a chunk home!). Son No 1 thoroughly enjoyed his pasta, and son 2 tucked into the starter fishcakes with gusto, announcing that they were the best he’d ever had….which he quickly clarified except for the ones that I make!!!! Sister had chicken, and (embarrassed to say), can’t remember what the other half had! Empty plates all around (except for the bit of steak that I took home!)
First of all, a big thank you to Roberto! Who served us so kindly and warmly 🙂 The next thank you goes to the cook! The fish was just excellent! The atmosphere is very romantic and the service is perfect. We can highly recommend it..
Best meal I’ve ever had in Gozo
I’m someone who enjoys their food, and I have to say the Duck in cranberry sauce I had at Giovannis blew me away. Genuinely the best meal I’ve had in my life so far. Perfect.
As for the restaurant itself the staff are lovely and always great with my little one, now that Giovannis is in the square in Xjewkija theres no need to drive out for a good meal.
We really enjoyed this meal. I thought the food was wonderful quality and really well-prepared. My son loved his swordfish. Thank you!
In a warm Summer Gozitan evening, we ended up in this beautiful square under the majestic dome. We sat outside where we were greeted by a very charming waiter who guided us through the menu. We had clams pasta and ravioli followed by Chicken in masala wine sauce and calamari in wine. All the food was mouthwatering, fresh and beautifully presented. All in all good value for menu and fresh ingredients.
Great dining experience
Been there on a Friday evening. The restaurant was getting busier by the time, as we made our order. The place is wonderfully decorated and the service was good. But the best part of it all was the food, we made our choice varying from local rabbit dishes to an array of pasta and steaks were all beautifully cooked to perfection. Thumbs up for the quality of food and also for the chef’s opera singing while cooking.
Luckily it is a good restaurant as other than the couple of café/bars across the square there is nothing else close by at all! We were in a B&B nearby and the owner suggested all the places we went to and Giovanni’s was one of them. We had dinner three times as we didn’t want to drive; every time excellent food that is cooked in the open-plan kitchen. One thing, the portions are large but “to share” is not a problem to them. It is also very nicely finished inside so don’t be put off by the nondescript frontage as it doesn’t do it justice.
Spot on dinner
We went for dinner me and my girlfriend and we were surprised from the nice and quite atmosphere in the restaurant.
Food was excellent and a lot of extra special not listed on the normal menu.
The restaurant is serving mainly fresh seafood but also has traditional Maltese dishes.
Also Nice list of wines to accompany the food.
Big thanks to the staff that makes the experience nice and relaxed.
Definitely will recommend.
We decided to have dinner here because we were in a hotel next door. The food was good, and so was our host.
It was interesting to see our food being prepared through their open kitchen.
We had antipasti and some Maltese bread, and we couldn’t finish the platter. The Maltese sausage and cheese were tasty. For starters, my Partner had ravioli and I had prawns risotto. Both dishes were good and well presented. For main my Partner had pork medallions with mustard and honey sauce he said he enjoyed it and I had a rabbit which was nice too. We didn’t go for desserts as we were both stuffed. Giovanni’s is a place worth another visit when back on the island.
Great Italian and local cuisine
Dined in Giovanni’s when staying at the hotel next door.
A good choice of dishes on the menu. We treated ourselves to antipasti, a small pasta course, and mains, all wonderfully prepared and presented. Together with a bottle of wine this set us back just under EUR 80 for two, which I rate as decent for the quality of food we received.
Amazing food & a relaxed atmosphere
My girlfriend and I were looking for somewhere to eat on our first night in St Paul’s Bay when we stumbled across this gem. The staff on shift (Andrea & Maria) couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating in insuring we had a great evening. The food itself was delicious and fresh with large portions. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for some impeccable seafood and great service!
Best food I’ve had in Buggiba!
My boyfriend and I came here one evening for dinner and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is so calming compared to the hustle and bustle outside, I ordered the seabass special and my partner the chicken, it was the most delicious seabass I had tasted!my partner loved his meal too and the wine was perfect. The customer service was comparable to non, we received freshly baked bread with homemade hummus and olives on the house, and finished the meal with lemoncello on the house! We had to visit one last time and when we did we weren’t disappointed. We received the same amazing service and food, and we even received a local cactus liquor on the house. This is a must visit; Will definitely be going again if we’re ever in Malta.
Superb local fish
This restaurant was recommended to us by the hotel staff. I’m so glad we took them up on it, because our meal was one of the best of the trip. The lampuka (dolphin fish) was in season and on the specials board. Very simply cooked but so tasty. I can’t remember what my partner had as I was so engrossed in my delicious fish. We shared a bottle of local dry white – some of the local wines are really excellent – but had no room for dessert. The service was impeccable. There are other restaurants in the area that were recommended to us and really didn’t meet our expectations but this one definitely did
Worth a visit
Delicious food, very freshly tasting fish and super friendly staff. Recommending going there if you are around! Thanks, Roberto and Andrea!
Don’t think about it just go
Venus is a family run authentic local restaurant amongst chains and bars in Bugibba. Don’t be fooled by the white table cloths and seafood display as expensive. You’ll be paying the same or less like for like in other not so well presented restaurants. The starters of grilled octopus and rabbit ravioli was amazing along with the local warm cooked bread. They have a good selection of specials. We stuck to seafood but they also offer red meat & chicken. Brothers Roberto & Andrea along with Maria made us feel very welcome and we appreciated the Frangelico with ice cream and sparkler for our birthday celebration. Thanks for a lovely evening.
Really easy to summarize: food amazing, service top of the pop, our favourite wine, as George would say: what else?
Food and Service
Food and Service have been very nice. Roberto, one of the owners, cares for everyone in the restaurant. Very special. Would definitely go again.
Outstanding seafood experience
Absolutely fantastic meal – a sea to plate experience. Super fresh food, great atmosphere with superb service. A shout out to Roberto who looked after us really well.
We loved this restaurant and wished we had found it sooner so that we could have had a return visit. There were so many lovely dishes on the menu it was hard to choose. The food was amazing, and we enjoyed every course we had. We have to give a mention to the friendly staff as well especially Manuel who took the time to talk to us as we ordered and gave us lots of tips for our holiday. If we ever get back to Gozo this will be the first restaurant on our list to visit. Excellent
Amazing food, atmosphere and staff
Dropped in at the end of August with a friend for an end-of-holiday treat. The staff were very welcoming and more than happy to answer all our questions about different dishes on the menu, specials, portion sizes etc., as well as recommending the best dishes according to our tastes. The tuna starter was fresh and really tasty and both our mains were incredible. I had the lobster pasta in the picture (drooling). Great desserts too; left feeling content and full. Definitely recommend it.
Today we had a fantastic lunch at Xewkija Gozo. Both starters and main course were delicious. Fish and rib eye were fantastic. Waiters very helpful.
Amazing food and service!
Came to Venus restaurant last weekend and had a fab experience! The food was absolutely gorgeous and the service even better! Was really looked after from the second of entering the restaurant. The perfect combination of quality food and top class service made our experience really special! This restaurant is an absolute go-to when visiting the area! Make sure you don’t miss it cause it’s an absolute gem!
Traditional family run restaurant. The food is excellent. I had duck with accompanying potatoes and vegetables, all beautifully cooked. I would highly recommend a visit, prices are also reasonable.
Visited with my husband. It reminded us of our local Italian restaurant. Food was tasty and filling and beautifully prepared and served. It was not expensive and we really liked it. Definitely a restaurant we will return to.
This is the best restaurant
This is the best restaurant in Malta ever with impeccable service and always fresh seafood! I highly recommend visiting the restaurant because I have it weekly and every time I go I am very well attended.
Amazing as always
We visited this restaurant back in 2012 and came back every year for 5 years, and it always delivers great service and great food. I think the management has changed now but the quality of service and food has remained 5 star.
Beef Carpaccio 10/10 – Lobster Linguine 10/10 – Tiramisu 10/10 – Service 10/10 – Ambience 10/10
Rare, that’s how I like my meat cooked. Melt in my mouth perfection and packed with flavour, that’s what I got.
Rare to find a restaurant so perfect.
I have eaten here before, and it had always been a stunning experience.
The staff, sons of the owner and others have a real family feel.
They are professional and attentive.
They know everything about where it was sourced from, how it was cooked and what’s in it.
All allergies catered for, from gluten, to veggy to halal and all areas in between.
You need to eat here at least once to know what proper food is.
Malta has this jewel in its crown of restaurants.
Our experience with the Venus
Our experience with the Venus restaurant cannot be described differently than as amazing! Roberto was taking care of us during the dinner and he was incredible and super nice 😉 And the food? – fresh, delicious and simply exquisite! Venus does definitely worth the visit. And even if you get the perception that it may be a bit more expensive, I have to point out that the prices are only slightly above average in the area but experience is a whole differently level. Thanks a lot for a gourmet dinner and pleasant time!
Visited the restaurant on a busy Sunday night dinner. As we arrived we were welcomed and shown to our table. For starters we took beef Carpaccio and Tuna Tartare. For main course we choose a fillet of Beef which just cooked to perfection and a fish platter. For dessert, we took a cheesecake. Top class service and food. Will return for sure when visiting Malta again.
